Autumn idioms: idiomy jesienne
Today a few idioms connected with autumn. Chestnuts, squirrels, leaves, nuts are its attributes. So let’s get familiar with some autumn idioms:

 

  1. An old chestnut:  that’s a subject, idea or a joke that has been repeated so many times that it is no longer funny = „odgrzewany kotlet”
  2. I’m nuts about….: I’m crazy about..= mam bzika na punkcie…
  3. To squirrel away: to hide money or something of value in a safe place= „chomikować”
  4. To turn over a new leaf: make a fresh start, change one’s behaviour=zacząć wszystko od nowa, zmienić swoje zachowanie
  5.  turn into a pumpkin-: to go to bed= pójść spać
